Jacques writes:

When I was considering these wars as a project a while ago I had Sharpe Practice from Too Fat Lardies in mind.

One would have to add some period Eastern Cape flavour to the rules but eminently do-able.

The Cape Frontier Wars – Books & Figures

Cape Warriors: Volume 1 – Frontier Warfare & Fighting Men in Colonial South Africa 1834-53

We have teamed up again with the indomitable Col Mike Snook to bring you new resources for an overlooked period in wargaming. Mike has written two books, the first volume of which goes to the printers today and covers Cape Frontier warfare between 1834-53. In this volume, he examines in depth the fighting men and type of warfare conducted during the 6th, 7th and 8th Cape Frontier Wars, the Boer-Ndebele War of 1836-7, the Boer 7ndash; Zulu War of 1838-40, the Anglo-Boer confrontations in the 1840s and the one day Anglo-Basotho war of 1852. If you've read Go Strong into the Desert, or any other book written by Mike, you will know how enjoyable, accurate and absorbing his works are. He spent five years as a peacekeeping adviser to the South African military, during which time he trekked the battlefields covered in this and the next volume, and so writes from a personal perspective and with an innate knowledge of the subject. The book is heavily illustrated with contemporary images and 41 color 'uniform' plates by ourselves.
