U.S. Army Chevrolet Trucks in World War II: 1½-ton, 4 x 4 Between 1940 and 1945, large numbers of trucks of all categories were delivered to the U.S. Army by the Chevrolet Motor Division of General Motors. Over 160,000 of these trucks were the G-506 light four-wheel-drive trucks – which became the standard 1½-ton, 4 x 4 truck for both the U.S. Army and Army Air Corps during the war. Tank Warfare: On the Eastern Front 1941-1942 – Schwerpunkt The German panzer armies that swept into the Soviet Union in 1941 were an undefeated force that had honed their skill in combined-arms warfare to a fine edge. The Germans focused their panzers and tactical air support at points on the battlefield defined as Schwerpunkt – main effort – to smash through any defensive line and then advance to envelope their adversaries. Initially, these methods worked well in the early days of Operation Barbarossa, and the tank forces of the Red Army suffered defeat after defeat. Although badly mauled in the opening battles, the Red Army's tank forces did not succumb to the German armored onslaught, and German planning and logistical deficiencies led to over-extension and failure in 1941. $23.00 USD

Operation Chariot: The St. Nazaire Raid, 1942 This volume in the Casemate illustrated series offers a clear overview of the planning and execution of the raid to destroy the St. Nazaire drydock and its aftermath, accompanied by 125 photographs and images, including color profiles and maps. The goal was to deny the Tirpitz use of the drydock, keeping the German battleship in port instead of loose in the Atlantic with promise of refuge in St. Nazaire. Macarthur's Papua New Guinea Offensive: 1942-1943 (Images of War) In July 1942, the Japanese attacked across the Owen Stanley mountain range, only to be stopped by Australian and Imperial Force troops at Ioribaiwa Ridge, just 27 miles from Port Moresby. MacArthur, assigned to the Southwest Pacific Area, planned for the conquest of Northeast New Guinea and New Britain. The capture of airfields at Buna and reoccupation of Gona and Sanananda Point were prerequisites. The Allied offensive opened on 16 November 1942 with Australian infantrymen and light tanks alongside the U.S. 32nd Infantry Division. Overcoming the Japanese and the inhospitable terrain in tropical conditions proved the toughest of challenges. It remains an achievement of the highest order that the campaign ended successfully on 22 January 1943. $23.00 USD
