Maybe I'm mistaken, but I thought the letter designations were a post-war creation, anyway? I've certainly seen contemporary WWII accounts referring to "short" and "long" Panzer III or IV tanks.

I believe you are mistaken, it's simply that the difference between two shorts or two longs were largely irrelevant to anyone who wasn't a mechanic or quartermaster.


Except the PSC T-34 gives you optional turrets for the T-34/85.

Apparently the new BF set includes their existing T-34 kit which – like PSC – includes both mickey mouse 76 and 85 turrets, but with the addition of a small sprue containing an early-war turret, which puts it one up on the PSC kit.
