This week is the GAMA Tradeshow in Las Vegas. Dream Pod 9 normally attends this show, but will not be there this year because of important news. We apologize to all retailers and distributors expecting to meet with at the show.
Last year the team behind Dream Pod 9 started a new company called Dream Pod Entertainment to work on movies and television. We helped out on a few small Montreal-based productions last year to get our feet wet and now we have some big news to announce, checkout the press release. We have been doing pre-production for the movie since the start of 2004, which is why we are not at the GAMA Tradeshow and will not be attending Origins or Gen Con as we will on site filming in Canada, Russia, Turkey and Spain this summer.
We can't pass up this chance of making one of our dreams come true. This may cause a few of the summer releases to be pushed back, but we will try our best to keep the delays as short as possible. We plan on continuing to do gaming products for years to come along with working on one movie or television project each year, with our business partners. With the eventual goal of bring our sci-fi universes to the big screen as summer blockbusters, where we have full creative control.
The Terra Nova Companion has shipped off to our distributors and customers. It should be in stores everywhere later this month, or you can purchase a copy on our Online Store right now!
We are working on the much-awaited SilCORE Miniatures Rules (sometime in April), which takes the Silhouette tactical rules and make them into a universal system that drives all our wargames, much like the RPG rules do for our game worlds. Playtesting of new rules starts later this month.
Our sculptor, Phil, has been having some fun preparing minis for the SilCORE Miniatures book - check out the new RT-72 Mechatank for the Gear Krieg Modern enemy forces.
Phil has completed work on some new Heavy Gear Landship Miniatures (1/3500 scale) based on the following North and South designs. Alain is working on Heavy Gear releases for both the North and South of the basic gears, with extra weapons to customize the gears, to be released in April. Phil has also been kit bashing 1/35 scale model kits, check out this modified Humvee model kit!
Our May release of the Heavy Gear: Colony Companion has been changed. We had planned to make one big book with all the colonies, but we would have had to cut to much cool info out of the existing colony books, we will now do two colony companions. The first, Heavy Gear: Colony Companion Volume One (DP9-929, 256 pages), will come out as scheduled in May and will include the colonies of Caprice, Utopia, Atlantis and Eden. The second, Heavy Gear: Colony Companion Volume Two (DP9-937, 256 pages), will come out this summer (the exact release date TBA) and will include the colonies of New Jerusalem, Jotenheim, Home and Botany Bay, with all new info, creatures and vehicles. Both books will be dual-statted for both SilCORE and OGL gaming.
We have also started work on a new game universe that will be coming out later this year.
