"Our new forthcoming mecha game has a new website!" writes Ed Pugh of Reaper Miniatures, announcing the new website for CAV.

The professional-quality website includes an overview of this future universe, a guide to the technology, downloadable maps in .pdf format, photographs of the forthcoming miniatures, and even a playtest version of the rules.

CAV stands for Combat Assault Vehicle - 30-foot-tall mecha-type walking vehicles. The game is set in the same universe as Reaper's previous fantasy ruleset, Dark Heaven Apocalypse, and some of the same factions appear in both (i.e., Chroniclers). The rules not only cover mecha, but also infantry and wheeled/tracked vehicles.

According to Reaper, the game is designed "...so that you can complete large-scale 30 to 50 model battles within a reasonable time frame, usually from 3 to 5 hours." Each mecha has several levels of performance, and damage reduces a mecha to using the stats pertaining to the degraded level. Repair can boost a vehicle back to higher levels.

The initial wave of releases in October will include the basic rules (free) and four models of mecha (US$9.95 each). Each month afterward, there will be two new models released and the latest issue of the Journal of Recognition. February will be the biggest month of all, as scheduled for released then are the final rulebook (US$19.95) and Journal of Recognition sourcebook (US$19.95), a novel based on the game, and 7 new miniatures packs (including the first infantry). We're told the miniatures are "...in 1/160 or 12mm scale (Also known as N-Scale)"
