Bob Watts of Sabertooth Games writes:

Games Workshop Buys 85% of Sabertooth Games

How does this affect you? Not so much actually. All it means is that Sabertooth Games will have access to more resources than ever before to deliver excellent product to our customers.

Sabertooth staff enjoy a night on the town

But you have questions don't you? You're like that aren't you? Always asking questions huh? Who killed JFK? What's that wart and how did it get there? Who left the juice in the caboose? Am I on fire? All right, I'm not going to answer those questions (yes, you are on fire) but here are some answers to questions involved in this exciting news.

  • Is STG moving to England? No (unless we are looking for a really good pub)
  • Is GW moving to Seattle? No (unless they want a good latte or a ride on our really cool dinner train, which is really cool by the way)
  • What happens if both my opponent and me have Events in our command hand when a battle ends? Check the game FAQ section. This is not the place for those questions (but an excellent question!)
  • Is Sabertooth limited to only GW properties? Not at all, we still have the ability to work on other original products, as has been our plan since the founding of the company.
Sabertooth designed the 40K collectible card game
  • Is GW going to stick their finger in everything Sabertooth does? They bought 85% of us; they can do whatever they want. But why would they? We kick ass (sorry mom, but we do kick mondo serious buttocks). Seriously though, we've had long talks with GW about the future of Sabertooth Games and we feel like our thoughts are totally in line with theirs. We are 100% thrilled to enter the brave new world ahead of us with the strength of GW behind us. Unlike the Hasbro/WotC buyout where I believe Hasbro had little to offer WotC, GW has a ton to offer us. Like to see some John Blanche art in an upcoming set? Well the odds of that just went up by a LOT =)
  • What does this mean to me the player? Are you going to cancel the Astromonican? Are you going to price your entire product in pounds sterling? Are you going to only sell at GW stores? No, No, No. OK, if you live in the UK, you will pay in pounds sterling, but that's your fault for not embracing the Euro. But the other answers are still "No." As a fan of the Warhammer 40,000 CCG, don't expect any changes that aren't additive to the things you already enjoy as a member of the Astronomican (you have joined our organized play program haven't you?)
  • "You Suck." OK, that's not a question. But I see where you're going. Are we a "sell out?" No. The only reason we did this deal is because GW's vision for STG is exactly what we wanted to do anyway. And now, with GW behind us, we have the resources at our fingertips to do even greater things. GW totally kicks ass. If we didn't think that, we never would have launched a new company based on their products and we certainly wouldn't of sold 85% of our company to them! We love being part of the GW team, now if we could only find a way to open up a Bugmans of our own…
  • When can we expect to see the Squats in the Warhammer 40,000 CCG?>>>Deleted by the Inquisition<<<
  • Hey, is that hunky guy Luke on your website single? Sorry no. Also, unlike his picture in the staff section, he's balding, and badly. You don't want to go there. See the pictures of the party following the announcement to the staff ... if you want to know what he looks like now. Warning, it's not pretty.
  • Does this affect your product schedule? Well to be honest, we are a small company, and the negotiations and getting our books in order did distract us a bit. We are currently thinking that the first expansion is likely to be a bit late now. When we get info back from our printer, we'll have a more firm release date. This was the one unfortunate effect of the deal; it did distract us for a bit of time. But, we still plan on releasing on roughly the same schedule as we had planned before. More importantly than the short-term delay is the long-term increase in the quality of the product thanks to this deal. Be patient, things are going to get even better…
  • Why can't I get no Tang? Call NASA.
