The Kelpie is a legendary horse of Scottish folklore. It also has connections to some areas of Yorkshire, including the Strid near Bolton Abbey.
This tabletop miniatures game takes inspiration from the mythological horse by having one player take control of the Kelpie, trying to drown victims in the river, and the other player embodying a group of villagers trying to cross with their goods.
The villagers can cross the river unmolested until they fail a River test. At which point, the Kelpie is summoned and attempts to drag them to their doom.
Kelpie is a two-page skirmish game of risk and reward that plays in under 30 minutes.
