The Wings of Glory Miniature Game – Giants of the Sky project on Kickstarter continues to fly high. Funded after a few hours, the campaign is now in its third day. The project has over $55,000 USD pledged and more than 350 backers. The second stretch-goal was achieved in the second day, unlocking a deluxe, thick cardboard management card to be included in the Kickstarter edition of the Handley-Page O:400 and Zeppelin Staaken R. VI models. As we write, the campaign is halfway to the third stretch-goal.
Launched on 10th March, the crowd-funding campaign to release and add to the WWI Wings of Glory game, the colossal WWI bombers Handley-Page O:400 and Zeppelin Staaken R. VI. will run until 2nd April.
The campaign first stretch-goal (poster maps, to use together with the bomber models as gaming mats) was unlocked in the first day, at $35,000 USD pledged. The next goal, to be unlocked at $65,000 USD, will include add two scenarios to play with the game mat for each model. A new goal was revealed today: with a funding of $80,000 USD, Ares Games will develop the Android and IOS version of the WWI Toolkit – a software tool to help players to track some of the advanced and optional rules (altitude and fuel), and also a cool visual database of the existing airplanes.
Two new add-ons were also added to the campaign, after listening backers' suggestions. Now, besides the nice accessories created by Aerodrome Accessories as the prop rulers and special damage markers, it's possible to include as add-ons the WWI Wings of Glory Rules and Accessories Pack, or a set of four poster maps (unlocked in the first stretch-goal) to the pledge.
Wings of Glory is a tabletop game that recreates aerial combat during WWI and WWII, using cards and miniatures to represent the airplanes and their maneuvers. The game system includes game sets and additional packs with a great collection of pre-painted, ready-to-play model airplanes, and accessories.
