The two most recent blogs on the Ancient History Magazine site focus on topics of both a recent and a far-away nature. In the first, editor Jona Lendering comments on the recent find of Roman coins in Japan. Is this not-so-precious metal evidence that the Romans visited Japan? In his second, most recent blog, Jona takes a look at the apparent liberation of the city of Nimrud, Assyrian Kahlu. This city was the capital of the Assyrian empire before that role was taken over by the better-known city of Nineveh. As it happens, that city is the subject of the next issue of Ancient History Magazine, due out in early November.
