Baylor's Campaign

My interest in the American Civil War started when I was a young lad, and have found it a fascinating conflict, rich with history and legends.

One thing that I have found interesting are the smaller conflicts in the outlying areas. When I watched the movie The Good, the Bad and the Ugly and they made reference to Sibley and his army, that sparked an interest.

So what is this? Well, it is a series of ideas that could be modified to suit any set of American Civil War rules.

Baylor's Campaign takes up the Confederate invasion of the Arizona and New Mexico territories in 1861 during the Civil War.

Included scenarios are:

Scenario 1 – Engagement at San Thomas – 23rd July 1861
Scenario 2 – Battle of Mesilla — 25th July 1861
Scenario 3 — Surrender at San Augustine Pass — 27th July 1861
Scenario 4 — Battle of Canada Alamosa — 24th—25th September 1861
Scenario 5 — Battle of the Grove — 26th September 1861

The first three scenarios could be used with regimental-style rulesets, but you would need to break these down into company-size units. The other scenarios could be used with a skirmish set of rules, or forces could be added to them to make them even more interesting.

Please remember that these are scenarios that are not set in concrete and can be used and changed to suit your favorite ACW ruleset.

Enjoy.
