Jacksonville Garrison Reorganizing

Back to Hobby News

This is great news! The Jax Garrison has a bunch of awesome people in that organization, many of whom I consider my friend. They used to put on some really fun and well organized cons over the years so this is very welcome news.

Jacksonville Garrison announces:

Over the past couple of decades, the Jacksonville Garrison has been a tabletop gaming club for people with a common hobby. We promoted tabletop gaming with game days, demonstrations, and conventions. During that time, most of the burden and financial responsibility was carried by our friends Chip Coffey and Jim Duke. As we strive to increase our efforts, and with the passing of our beloved Chip, it has become evident that there is a need to change the way we conduct "club business". To this end, we are revamping the Jacksonville Garrison to be an entity that can be better suited to fulfill our goals while minimizing the financial burden on any one person.

It is my honor to introduce you to The Jacksonville Garrison, LLC, a member-driven limited-liability company. It has the same goals and aspirations as before but with a much higher level of protection and accountability for all members.

Over the next few weeks, we will be sharing more about this new brand. For the time being, there are three things I want to share with you:

  • New logo, which harks from the original but brings it to a more contemporary look. It is elegant, provides high visibility, and retains the gaming elements without being over the top.
  • New membership model. To improve the club, we must put some capital into it. To that end, Jacksonville Garrison memberships will have a modest Inaugural Members rate of $30 USD, which includes a Commemorative Challenge Coin and other great perks.
  • New website. The Skirmish Game Con website is now up and running. There you will have access to club information, purchase club membership, register games for the upcoming Skirmish Game Con, purchase weekend badges to attend the convention, and find convention sponsorship packages (limited) to attend the convention as sponsoring vendors.

Folks, this is a new beginning for The Garrison, and with it, there will be successes and some challenges which we will overcome together. The club is member-led, member-supported, and member-focused. The initial leadership team will be introduced to you over the next few weeks. In the meanwhile, please visit skirmishgamecon.com and purchase a membership, register games, and get a con badge.

Happy Gaming!
