Sopwith Tabloid

This is an STL file for your 3Dprinter of the British WWI aircraft Sopwith Tabloid.

The Tabloid was a pre-war design by the good folks at Sopwith that was built for speed. The Tabloid was small, fast and very popular with the ladies. No aerial romeo could fail picking up chicks in this baby.

Sopwith also slapped floats onto the Tabloid to enter the 1914 Schneider Trophy race for floatplanes, and even called it the Schneider, in a brazen bit of sucking up to the committee. The Schneider won the cup and became world famous.

When war broke out, the RFC and the RNAS purchased Tabloids and Schneiders respectively, and used them to annoy the hell out of the Germans. Dropping bombs from the machine, scouting, and even trying to shoot down zeppelins, the Tabloid was the mosquito in the bedroom of the German army.

The Tabloid's time as a front-line machine was very limited, but she did quite okay before being relegated to other less warlike duties.

The model is scaled at 1:100th but may be printed successfully at smaller or even larger scales (though with a corresponding loss of detail) depending on the quality of the printer and type of material.

The download also contains a 1:285 scale version.

The model has been printed in both resin and PLA successfully.
