Games Workshop is pleased to announce that Warmaster, the fantasy game of mighty battles on a grand scale, is back in production and products for the game will once again available in the finest hobby retail stores throughout America.

New Bretonnian knights for Warmaster

Warmaster is a tabletop game of mass combat fantasy battles, usually played by two people. Like Warhammer Fantasy Battle, the action is set in the fantasy landscape of the Old World. Using small-scale models (10mm tall), players can build huge armies to fight truly epic battles between mighty forces. The rules cover a variety of races and include magical forces, war machines, sieges and fortresses, special troop types, and more. Players can fight famous historical battles from the history of Warhammer, and conduct campaigns connecting many games. The game is supported via Games Workshop’s Specialist Games division and Warmaster Magazine, where players can get information on new armies and rules, and find out about new models and other releases.

What is Warmaster?

Warmaster is a bit different form any game from Games Workshop. Rather than concentrating on the actions of individual regiments or Heroes, Warmaster tests each player's skills as the General of earthshaking armies. Whether that lone Champion or even elite unit lives or dies is inconsequential next to the success of a player’s overall battle plan and tactical strategy. Now players can do daring flanking maneuvers, pincer formations and exciting end around attacks with the warriors of the Old World!

For gamers wanting to play with really big forces, Warmaster is the game for them. This game system allows players to field massive legions of from their favorite Warhammer armies. For gamers thinking two units of 30 Skeletons was huge, Warmaster is gaming on another scale! Prepare for hundreds or even thousands of troops to be deployed and pressed into the thick of battle. At approximately 10mm high, Warmaster models are smaller than most figures from Citadel Miniatures, leading to large-scale battles that can involve hundreds of models a side.

Warmaster is also a change from Games Workshop's other games in that there is no boxed game to go along with it. The entire Warmaster game is contained in the rulebook, 160 pages full of comprehensive rules that can be used to fight a myriad of intense battles. For one purchase players get all of the rules and army lists at once, plus scenarios, scenery ideas, background, advanced rules, and more. These range from enormous siege actions to gigantic pitched battles. There are also details about how to run campaigns and even information on fighting your battles on the high seas of the Old World. Six armies are detailed with complete listings of the troops available for war!

Additional new rules and army lists about the game are presented in White Dwarf Magazine and in Warmaster Magazine (the dedicated magazine for the game), as well as online for players to download for free.
