Over the Hills will provide you, the gamer, with something suitably different from previous rulesets that focus specifically on Napoleonic wargaming or those that include Napoleonic wargaming as part of generic set of rules that cover a wide time frame.
- This rulebook gives you a dedicated Napoleonic ruleset that has both basic and optional rules.
- The basic game is easily picked up and allows players new to the rules to play a sizable game to a conclusion in an evening without the need to alter your already existing based armies.
- By adding in any of the many optional rules offered, you can choose to bring as much Napoleonic flavor to your games as you like.
- At the core of your new Over the Hills ruleset are the Napoleonic armies themselves. Each army has been given a set of national characteristics to ensure that each army plays differently, this is enhanced further with the troop formations open to each nation and the differing abilities of each nation's commanders.
- The psychological impact of the battlefield will influence everything that a unit does during a game of Over the Hills. Units are assigned a fatigue factor and as this degrades, so does your unit's ability to carry out any task.
- Dice rolling has been reduced to a minimum. It's up to you the commander to decide and execute what a unit does.
- Over the Hills uses D10s and in the basic game, they are only used in ranged and close combat, for those of you who are not blessed by the 'dice gods'; low rolls are good!
Over the Hills can be used to play Brigade, Divisional and Army size games and this ruleset includes appendix where even more Napoleonic flavour can be found.
We want you try a few games with Over the Hills, and know you will like them as much as we do.
