Ryan Johnson, CEO of Guild of Blades, has demanded that TMP remove or edit a Message Board posting made by Thane Morgan of Thane's Games.
"In that response he does suggest a business relationship between himself and the company that shall not be named," writes Johnson. "I am going to demand that post either be taken down or edited to remove that non factual
link. Since that message board is a "publication" of
"theminiaturespage.com" and it is publishing potentially actionable statements, you may opt to remove or edit it to bring it to satisfactory compliance or we shall have to pursue the matter further. And yes, you may consider the "we" in my verbiage to mean I am speaking on behalf of
the company presently, not my own personal enterprises."
Johnson threatens "further action" if TMP fails to comply with his demand. "But be darn sure due to my responsibilities to my business partners that I will react quickly to see any misinformation published will be taken down," he writes. "And I regret that should any misinformation be published that does actual and measurable harm to the company with regard to this matter, that the principles of the company (for which I myself will obstain from voting on) may decide action is required. It is their right to protect themselves and their interest from libel."
Guild of Blades has set Monday as the deadline by which TMP is expected to edit or remove the posting.
On October 13th, TMP ran a news story concerning delays with Empires of Arcana, the strategic campaign module for the Armies of Arcana game system.
Ryan Johnson, the print buyer contracted by Thane's Games to handle the game's printing, expressed concerns that the other party in the dispute was spreading 'misinformation.'
"I am getting rather sick of and a tad sensative regarding misinformation that is spreading regarding it," said Johnson. "I can only imagine one source for that misinformation, which, of course, is doing nothing to better or conclude the situation."
In response, Thane Morgan of Thane's Games posted to the TMP Message Boards, setting out his side of the story. "All of this is fully verifiable and supported by the e-mail record," wrote Morgan. "I will not have RJ/GoB accusing me of libel on any of these things."
"We have reviewed the post by Thane Morgan," says Bill Armintrout, editor of TMP. "It is not libelous, and we have declined the request to remove it." |
