As promised earlier, Richard Houston's recently returned line of 25mm Naval Guns & Ship Fittings has now been expanded with 15 new items, and a number of his old Native Artillery pieces from the Colonial line.
Among the new items are the long-awaited Deck Launch Torpedo Tube, more machineguns, a French deck gun, and extra fittings. These last include a Bridge Set (including a ship's wheel, telegraph, and binnacle to complete your wheelhouses), as well as life rings, anchors, and two types of large boat davits. Item WC-35 (Survivors) has been expanded to include four unique poses to fit into lifeboats and rafts, in addition to the other four unique poses of swimmers.
The Colonial guns include that old favorite, the Dog Head heavy/siege cannon, as well as the exquisite little bronze Fish Cannon from the Burmese, and the Maratha Lion Mortar.
Of special interest to Second Boer War collectors are the beautiful models of the Royal Navy 3" and 4.7" guns on improvised carriages, for use on the veldt to give Johnny Boer extra reasons to keep his head down, plus a particularly lovely rendering of the infamous Long Tom (155mm Creusot) the Boers had.
The catalog page at TVAG has been extensively rearranged by related items, so that, for example, all the naval guns make up the first listing, then those guns for use on land, then ship's fittings and crews, with the Victorian Sci-Fi "alien" artillery bringing up the rear.
In short, there's lots to see, and more easily found, if you wish to drop in to look around.
And, there's more coming soon, too! A sharp model of the Hales 24-pdr Rocket, presented so it may be mounted on the gunwales of your models, and also on its tripedal base for operations ashore, is heading to the mold makers. Still more machineguns and other weapons previously unavailable on ship's mounts, as well as on land carriages, are also rolling down the pipe. And a pair of life rafts are in the works (now you know why we expanded pack WC-35!) to complement the rules, Boilers And Breechloaders, and add more options and opportunities for your games.
Indeed, those venerable rules are about to be released in their fourth edition, with major expansions and many improvements in the text and tables, as well as fine tunings to the game generally. Watch for word of its release later this month.
