The book claims to be from actual experience, and although some of the text feels a little difficult, this book is of its time and shines a light-hearted look at the Indian Army of the First World War. $18.00 USD

Personal account that helps to understand the realities of Gallipoli – specifically, that the Allies were never going to win. WHAT OF THE DARDANELLES?
Granville Fortescue had been an American soldier since 1898, and during the First World War wrote for the Daily Telegraph. As a neutral American, he could travel in Turkey and was able to witness at firsthand the situation from the Turkish perspective, and he also knew many of the journalists who were covering events from the Allied side.
