Rules…

SOLDIERS OF ROME

SOLDIERS OF ROME Rules set uses a deck of action cards (included) to give orders to your three battle groups (left, right, center), which consist of between 8 to 20 models (cavalry is 4 to 8 models) during a Raid, Battle, or Siege mission. You pick your force from three army lists (Roman Legions, Barbarians, and Parthians), depending on the type of mission, so that a raiding force is different from a siege force. Further variations are included via an army's Strategems. Each deck for a mission consists of a number of fixed cards plus a number of random cards, adding randomness to the card draws. The rules aren't scale specific, they are playable at all scales because the players pick the ground scale and measurements based on their miniatures collection and table-size. $44.00 USD

NORTHERN TARS IN SOUTHERN WATERS: The Russian Fleet in the Mediterranean, 1806-1810

NORTHERN TARS IN SOUTHERN WATERS: The Russian Fleet in the Mediterranean, 1806-1810 Translated for the first time into English, the memoirs of Vladimir Bronevskiy describe the actions and movements of Russian Admiral Dmitriy Senyavin's squadron and the infantry at his disposal in the Adriatic and Aegean Seas between the years of 1805 and 1810. The story moves from Kronstadt to Corfu, to the siege of Ragusa and battle at Mount Athos, to the chaotic reshuffling of alliances with the signing of the Treaty of Tilsit and the ill-fated dispersion of the fleet among the British, French and Austrians. Unabridged, illustrated with all the original engravings, featuring newly translated maps and annotated throughout with notes and corrections. Includes 22 black-and-white illustrations and five maps. $60.00 USD

BULL RUN TO BOER WAR: How the American Civil War Changed the British Army The American Civil War is often said to have predicted the way in which later wars such as the Boer War and WWI would be fought. As a result, the British Army has been criticized for not heeding its lessons – a view that can be traced back to the 1930s. This book challenges that long-held view and demonstrates that the responses to the lessons of the war in the British Army were more complex, better informed, and of higher quality, than normally depicted. $45.00 USD

REVENGE IN THE NAME OF HONOUR: The Royal Navy's Quest for Vengeance in the Single Ship Actions of the War of 1812 Explores the single-ship naval actions during the War of 1812: how they were fought, their strategic context, and their impact on the officers and men who fought them, and the wider British psyche. Trafalgar happened only seven years earlier, and the fighting ethos of the Royal Navy was still hardened by Nelsonic naval culture. Whereas contemporary civilians and modern historians understood the losses as the inevitable result of fighting the vastly superior American 'super' frigates, the officers of the navy struggled to accept that they could not cope with the new American warships. The losses precipitated changes to Admiralty policy and drove an urge for vengeance by the officers of the Royal Navy. Includes 8 color plates, 4 black-and-white maps, and 5 black-and-white illustrations. $33.00 USD

M48 PATTON: American Cold War Battle Tank

M48 PATTON: American Cold War Battle Tank The M48 Patton main battle tank was one of the most successful and longest-serving designs produced in the United States, and it is a popular subject with tank modelers and enthusiasts. When it came into service in 1949, it represented a significant advance on the Sherman and M47 which it replaced, and it formed the backbone of American armored forces during the early years of the Cold War. It also saw combat in Vietnam, during the Indo-Pakistan wars, and in the Middle East, in particular during the Iran-Iraq War. So it is an fascinating subject for this volume in the TankCraft series. 200 color and black-and-white illustrations. $27.00 USD [Due mid March]
