Uniform Guides…

Hanoverian Army of the Seven Years War: Uniforms, Organization and Equipment

Hanoverian Army of the Seven Years War: Uniforms, Organization and Equipment Illustrated in color throughout and Stephen's latest superb uniform book. This volume explores the uniforms, organization and equipment of the Hanoverian Army during the reign of George II (1727-60), to the end of the Seven Years War in 1763, under George III (1760-1820). In addition, it covers the Saxe-Gotha Infantry Regiment, the Schaumburg-Lippe contingent, and the various light troops in Anglo-Hanoverian pay. The massive amount of illustration comes from contemporary sources as well as Brauer, Knotel, and Schirmer. But the real joy are Stephen's meticulously reconstructed flags and standards. $66.00 USD

Las Campanas Del Duque De Alba De Fuenterrabia a Argel (1524-1541) Few figures in the history of Spain have aroused as much controversy as Fernando Alvarez de Toledo and Pimentel, Duque de Alba. Admired by some and feared by others, he pushed the Spanish empire to achieve its greatest military successes and continental supremacy. Only the Duke of Alba was a rival and their talents shone in France, Central, North Africa, Germany, the Netherlands, and Portugal. Illustrated with photographs, maps, and color prints. Spanish Text. $28.00 USD

La Guerra De Sucesion De Mantua: 1628-1631 The death of Vicente II Gonzaga, Duke of Mantua and Monferrato – Levante and Poniente bordering with the Spanish Milanese – opened another dispute in a Europe already in conflict. Who would inherit the duchies, attracted the attention of France, the Holy Roman Empire, the intriguing Duke of Savoy, and Spain. This book investigates the diplomatic maneuvering – Quevedo himself spying in Venice – and the battles in Italy, from the plains of the Po River to the steps and Alpine valleys, led by commanders such as Gonzalo Fernandez de Cordoba and Ambrosio Spinola. Illustrated with photographs, maps, and color prints. Spanish Text. $28.00 USD

Other Books…

Napoleon's Gods: The Grenadiers a Cheval 1812-1815

Napoleon's Gods: The Grenadiers a Cheval 1812-1815 The senior regiment of Napoleon's Imperial Guard was the Grenadiers a Cheval, nicknamed the Gods, and hence the title of this book. This book provides a brief introduction to Napoleon's Imperial Guard and the regiment's place in it, as well as brief early history of the regiment, and a hoof-to-tack description of the Grenadiers, a Cheval from the fateful Russian campaign of 1812, to its disbandment in 1815, following the disaster of Waterloo. It describes the horses, uniforms and equipment of the regiment, as well as regimental organization, and provides short biographies of the officers and some of the men, giving a vivid picture of how the men of the regiment lived, and in some cases, how they died. $49.00 USD

Standing in Their Own Light: African American Patriots in the American Revolution Mining first-hand sources that include black veterans' pension files, this book examines how the struggle for independence moved from the battlefield to the courthouse-and how personal conflicts contributed to the larger struggle against slavery and legal inequality. Black veterans claimed an American identity based on their willing sacrifice on behalf of American independence. Abolitionists, citing the contributions of black soldiers, adopted the tactics and rhetoric of revolution, personal autonomy, and freedom. $35.00 USD

Flying to Victory: Raymond Collishaw and the Western Desert Campaign, 1940-1941 Canadian-born flying ace Raymond Collishaw (1893-1976) served in Britain's air forces for 28 years. As a pilot in World War I, he was credited with 61 confirmed kills on the Western Front. When World War II began in 1939, Air Commodore Collishaw commanded a Royal Air Force group in Egypt. It was in Egypt and Libya in 1940-41, during the Britain's Western Desert campaign, that he demonstrated the tenets of an effective air-ground cooperation system. This book examines his contribution to the British system of tactical air support-a pattern of operations that eventually became standard in the Allied air forces and proved to be a key factor in the Allied victory. Includes 30 black-and-white illustrations and seven maps. $35.00 USD
