Looking at the Preview on Wargame Vault it is not clear how ranged weapons are portrayed. Shooting cannons would hardly be appropriate for fantasy armies with medieval weapons! I suppose one could use the toy catapults and ballista that Britains used to make, but I doubt they are still in production. How about using tiddlywinks? If the counter hits a figure it is 'killed'. One could use different sized counters for the effects of thrown spears/javelins, archers and catapults/ballistae.
At over fifty pages, the rules seem unlikely to have the same simplicity as Little Wars, but that must be the result of having so many kinds of different fantasy or magical creatures for which rules have had to be created, unlike the infantry, cavalry and artillery of the original game.
Since I already have a copy of Little Wars, I'm not inclined to buy this bundle, but I might try writing my own fantasy version…
