xB9 Games today issued this press release:

xB9 Games, formerly DemonBlade Games, has closed its doors as of March 1, 2001.

xB9 is the publisher of games such as Shock Force: Battles in the Remnants of America, and GWAR: Rumble in Antarctica, and associated miniature lines.

Company CEO, Aaron L. Overton (overton@heatherstone.com) cited his own imminent departure from the company as the driving force behind the shutdown. Mr. Overton plans to focus on his role as Chief Technical Officer of Heatherstone Digital Solutions (www.heatherstone.com) a Maryland-based database and web solutions provider.

“While the development of miniature wargames has been a great personal joy to me,” said Mr. Overton, “the time for dual employment roles has come to an end. To continue in this manner would be unfair to our game-playing customers, our consulting clients, and most importantly, my own family. I will still write, and likely publish, wargaming materials because I enjoy it, but the focus and drive required to be involved in the daily effort of miniature manufacturing is too great to combine with other increasingly demanding projects.”

xB9 Games has transferred all intellectual property rights to Mr. Overton. He is currently involved in discussions with other hobby gaming companies and interested individuals regarding the licensing of those rights for continued production and development.

Heatherstone Digital Solutions is a developer of custom database and web solutions for desktop, intranet, and internet, and an Allaire consulting partner. Their past and present clients include organizations such as the National Academies of Science, the Maryland State Bar Association, Discovery Communications, the Department of Defense, the Federal Home Loan Banks, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, and many others.
