Darth,

Check out David Murray's posts. He and his wife started with a much more complicated scenario that I would ever use for a beginner, and they got through with no real problem.

Why? Well, David followed the instructions in the rulebook for learning the game: sit down with the components and follow along through the tutorials. Too many people decide that they don't need to do that--they can just read through the rules once and then try a game with their eight-player group. It's just going to be a disaster.

Make sure that you know exactly what you're doing before you try teaching anybody else. Don't use projectiles for the first game. And play a one-on-one game to start. Big groups cause problems both for teaching and because players have to figure out a whole bunch of "which of my weapons can so who and where are they going to hit my armor and if I thrust do I get closer?" problems each turn. It's overwhelming.

Remember, you can download the complete tutorial, with the components that you need, and see for yourself.

Wargame Vault announces the following bundle deal:

Attack Vector: Tactical 2nd Edition Bundle

Attack Vector: Tactical

Publisher: Final Sword Productions

This bundle contains the core rulebook for AVT 2nd Edition, Ship Book One, Ten Worlds setting book, and the SSD. Everything you would find in the boxed edition, except the maps and plastic pieces.

The SSDs are printable.

Note from the designer, Ken Burnside:

These are the PDFs used for printing the second edition of Attack Vector, and have been used for all printings since November 5th, 2011.

The November 5th change added two rules (listed on the first page of the rulebook for Attack Vector: Tactical). It also fixed problems on the SI tracks of SSDs.

In making these PDFs for Wargame Vault, I fixed a handful of typos in the main rulebook. The SSD book and setting book are unchanged.

Price: $20.00 USD
