Rules…

In Deo Veritas: Fast-Play Rules for Exciting Seventeenth Century Battles

In Deo Veritas: Fast-Play Rules for Exciting Seventeenth Century Battles The heart of the rules covering 17th Century warfare is a Disorder Test – if commanders fail to maintain cohesion, then their forces could be heading for destruction. Units become progressively disabled as disorder sets in and cohesion begins to suffer. Keeping the troops going, even when things seem bleak, is critical for success. Using the smaller scales of 6mm, 10mm, or 15mm, the usual 6' x 4' table gives a scale battlefield over a mile wide – big enough to cover all but the largest engagements. Includes six historical battle scenarios, terrain generator, and a point system. $30.00 USD

OMM Discount: Save 15%, now $25.50 USD

Scale Military Figure Conversions Converting models figures is a fascinating pastime, which can become rather costly if you choose models in metal or resin. The British & the Sikhs: Discovery, Warfare and Friendship c1700-1900 In the 18th Century, the Sikh Confederacy rose from the ashes of the crumbling Mughal Empire. Under the leadership of General Baghel Singh they conquered the Red Fort of Delhi in 1783 that led to the 1801 formation of the Sikh Empire in the Punjab under Maharajah Ranjit Singh. During this time, the East India Company also expanded its frontiers and territories. As both expanded, an influx of Christian missionaries came to convert the Sikhs into the British way of thinking.

The two empires were destined to clash and the Anglo-Sikh Wars of 1845-1849 witnessed some of the bloodiest battles Victoria's Britain fought, with major losses on both sides. The annexation of the Punjab led to the employment of the Sikhs into the British Indian Army all the way through to WWII. Includes eight-page color section and 23 black-and-white images.

This book weaves the reader through anecdotes and important events highlighting the relationship between the British and the Sikhs which exists to this day. In this deeply researched book, Mann uses rare anecdotes to provide recognition to early descriptions from British administrators, writers, and illustrators who depicted the history of the Sikhs and the land of the Punjab. The book is also supplemented with a number of Anglo-Sikh treaties which determined relations in the 19th Century. $30.00 USD

Wild East: The British in Japan 1854-1868 For over two centuries, Japan had been hidden behind a veil of seclusion. This changed in when Commodore Perry arrived in 1853. Unsurprisingly for a world power, Britain was fast to get in on the action. Unknown to them, their sudden appearance had accelerated the pace of political change in Japan.

The newcomers found themselves increasingly out of their depth in a power struggle that they did not understand. The Shogun and the emperor were at each other's throats, factions jockeyed for position, and the foreigners were at the center of it. Britain's first diplomats found themselves the targets of assassins and to their confusion discovered that the emperor had no legislative power and the Shogun's word was no longer law. Includes 33 color and black-and-white images and illustrations.

With the lessons of the Opium Wars still in recent memory, a number of British soldiers, ambassadors, interpreters and adventurers attempted to protect Imperial interests in Japan without causing outright war. This is the story of the rocky beginning of Anglo-Japanese relations amidst political schemes, gunboat diplomacy, assassins, and samurai, in the dying days of the Edo period and the twilight of the last Shogun. $38.00 USD
