From Manoeuvre Group

With our move into the earlier periods for our army lists and with now, 15 +years of experience in playing Manoeuvre Group we have added optional rules for commanding forces in part by the use of Runners.
In WWII and into even the late 70s, radios were not as prevalent or as reliable as today's standards. So in some cases it was necessary to make use of Runners. Runners convey orders and information to elements of a force. They are an important part of the command and control of Cold War forces and critical to lower levels of many of the protagonists in World War Runners carry orders and information beyond the range of voice and light, where telephones or field telephones were either not working or not available. To this end we have added these optional rules for the use of runners, on foot or with mechanized transport.
The rules are optional as they do slow down the game to some extent and make command decisions more complex. Even we do not use them all the time, and certainly they are not suggested for the occasional players, particularly those that are happy to go for a more simplified simulation, rather than a more rigorous type.
The rules presented are included in Issue 2 versions of the rules but it is our policy to provide updates for those in position with only the original version, hence this bulletin.
