I need another angle on this one for judgement, but I agree that the Palantir seems too large and Denethor (from this angle) looks unalike his other Mithril incarnations.

Mithril Miniatures of Prince August Toy Factory writes:

Mithril Miniatures has been officially licensed to produce collectable miniatures based on J.R.R. Tolkien's books, The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings trilogy, for over 20 years.

The Fellowship Club is a collection of Mithril Miniatures customers who want to partake in suggesting new ideas every month from these books that might be produced. These new ideas are put to a vote, and the winning idea is eventually made and supplied as a limited edition of 150 to members. This allows members to have their dream figure manufactured.

This latest release, The Madness of Denethor, was the winning idea from February 2012 by the club member rohangrl.

The Madness of Denethor

Brief History

Denethor was the Ruling Steward of Minas Tirith, the capital city of Gondor. He tried to use a palantir to spy on Sauron's armies, but his visions were manipulated by Sauron so they caused despair and disillusionment. After the poorly judged decision to defend Osgiliath, resulting with the almost fatal injury of his second son Faramir, and the inevitable siege of Minas Tirith by the monstrous forces of Sauron, Denethor lost all hope and committed suicide.

He ordered his men to burn him alive on a pyre prepared for himself and Faramir. Faramir was saved by the timely intervention of Peregrin Took, with help from Gandalf and the guard Beregond.

This is a 32mm scale miniature, primed with Mithril's special primer. It measures 32mm from the base to the top of his head.
