In a few days, Wargames, Soldiers & Strategy will return from the printers. The theme of this issue is "Great Leaders of the 17th Century." In particular, WS&S 75 will be looking at Continental Europe during this time, with attention paid to the Wars of Religion, the Netherlands' bid to be free of Spanish rule, and the conflict in Germany. Behind many of these struggles were powerful and charismatic figures, such as King Gustavus Adolphus of Sweden and Maurice of Nassau. These men not only played an important role in nation building, but were also great military innovators and reformers: much of their success came from their ability to lead men effectively and utilize armies in new ways. This issue of Wargames, Soldiers & Strategy will look at how they accomplished what they did and, more importantly, how that translates into tabletop wargaming.

For those not interested in 17th Century Europe, there are plenty of interesting non-theme articles as well. Perhaps most importantly, this issue contains the results of our Great Wargaming Survey, with lots of analysis (both graphical and otherwise). If you haven't been following along with the Great Wargaming Survey, don't forget to check out the roundup on our website. Besides the survey, other articles include a linked campaign for the Medieval Danish invasion of Gotland, a bite-size recreation of Magnesia, tips for tarting up pre-made terrain boards, and much, much more. As always, you can get a complete rundown of this issue's contents on our website.

Wargames, Soldiers & Strategy 75 is definitely another issue you won't want to miss; it will be sent out to subscribers early next week. There's also still time to pre-order your copy of this issue for only €3.95 EUR (instead of €4.95 EUR) plus P&P and receive it at the same time as regular subscribers. Or, why not subscribe yourself to get the very best deal and receive all our new issues automatically?
