VIII Corps Is Ready!

I'm pleased to say that Neal Reid's first card game is ready! In fact, we have finished earlier than expected, but we are going to stick to our original launch date at the end of the month.

Overview

This two-player card game covers the experience of the British VIII Corps on the first day of the Battle of the Somme, July 1st, 1916.

The game follows the course of the pre-battle preparation and the first day of the battle itself. One player is commander of VIII Corps, Lt. General Sir Aylmer Hunter-Weston. The other, his opponent, Lt. General Hermann von Stein commander of the German XIV Reserve Corps.

This is not a balanced game, and one where the British will find it very hard to win.

The A4 and U.S. Letter versions will be released on Friday, April 29th. A set of PDFs will be $14.50 USD from the Vexillia Limited store at Wargame Vault.

Nearer the launch date, we'll be releasing some sample pages. Those of you who signed up to the mailing list have already been sent some samples and other goodies.

As if Neal and I didn't need a rest, Neal is already working on the next game in what is destined to be a series of six. I'll be able to release more details before the launch of VIII Corps.

Other News

If you are interested in buying printed cards, you should know we've decided to wait until we see the general response to the launch of VIII Corps. If we go ahead, we are likely to look for a graphic artist to join the project team and enhance the PDF designs even further.

There's a temporary mailing list if you would like to receive direct updates by email, or just express an interest in buying printed cards. We'll shut down the list once the rules have been released.
