The honorific title of Squire is given to those Retained typically of Knightly rank, but sometimes Esquire or Jupon, who have performed deeds or other actions worthy of valor and respect among their regiment. Squires are in all respects just like their fellow Retained, but some carry unusual weapons or adornments upon their Alwite powered armor. To have a Squire in your lance can be seen as good fortune for you… but not for the foe.

Our final new releases for The Ion Age in 28mm scale for 2025 are brand new, but also an update. You may have noticed that the code IB51 is way, way lower in count than the last new release (IB98 Grima Gun Control Team), and the reason for this is that IB51 Retained Squires was withdrawn from sale a number of years ago. It has returned with four brand-new sculpts which are in pose, armament and demeanor almost exactly the same as before, with the original miniatures now retired.
IB51 – Retained Squires
A pack of four different 28mm scale metal miniatures with a saving. As with all packs, you can get the single poses within on their own. Each miniature comes with a separate back pack and without a base. Use these with your other Retained Knights, slotting them right in with other packs and platoons. Bare-headed, they make for notable knights.

There are now nearly 290 different miniatures in the 28mm Ion Age range across the Retained, Muster, Desteria, Planetary Militia, Grima Combat Robots, and the Shia Khan Empire of Legionaries, Malig Goblins, Pioneers, Nox, Warlords, and Psycoborgs.
By request, a scale picture showing the difference between a Legionary of the Shia Khan, a Malig Space Goblin, and a hulking Warlord in the 28mm range. The Legionary is 28mm to the eyeline, and the Warlord is 45mm to the top of its head.
