Casemate Publishers writes:

First, from Casemate, we have The Cold War Wilderness of Mirrors, the first-ever comprehensive history of both the U.S. and Soviet Military Liaison Missions undertaken during the Cold War. The author, Aden Magee, was commander of a U.S. counterintelligence element in West Germany during the Cold War, making him uniquely able to tell this story.

Then from Avonmore Books, we have Pacific Adversaries, Volume Four, which portrays the South Pacific conflict as accurately as possible. This volume focuses exclusively on confrontations between the Japanese Naval Air Force (JNAF) and Allied air power in the Solomon's theater between 1943 and 1944.

And from Pen and Sword, Rome's Great Eastern War describes and analyzes the campaigns that saw the rise of the Roman Empire in the east, comparing the style and campaigns of two great generals: Lucullus and Pompey The Great.

The Cold War Wilderness of Mirrors

The Cold War Wilderness of Mirrors – Counterintelligence & The U.S. & Soviet Military Liaison Missions 1947-1990

Aden Magee

The untold story of the Soviet Military Liaison Mission (SMLM) in West Germany and the U.S. Military Liaison Mission (USMLM) in East Germany.

This book details the Soviet Military Liaison Mission (SMLM) in West Germany and the U.S. Military Liaison Mission (USMLM) in East Germany as microcosms of the Cold War strategic intelligence and counterintelligence landscape. Thirty years since the fall of the Berlin Wall, the Soviet and U.S. Military Liaison Missions are all but forgotten. Their operation was established by a post-WWII Allied occupation forces' agreement, and missions had relative freedom to travel and collect intelligence throughout East and West Germany from 1947 until 1990.

Pacific Adversaries, Volume Four

Pacific Adversaries Volume Four – Imperial Japanese Navy vs The Allies – The Solomons 1943-1944

Michael Claringbould

This fourth volume of Pacific Adversaries conveys detailed stories of aerial warfare in the Solomons theater, chosen because both Japanese and Allied records can be matched for an accurate accounting. Often the actual outcomes are very different to the exaggerated claims made by both sides as outlined in most traditional histories. In some cases, this factual approach enables long-standing mysteries to be solved. Further, for each chosen story photographic or other evidence enables accurate depictions of the aircraft involved.

Rome's Great Eastern War

Rome's Great Eastern War – Lucullus, Pompey & the Conquest of the East, 74-62 BC

Gareth C Sampson

Despite Rome's conquest of the Mediterranean, by the turn of the 1st Century BC, Rome's influence barely stretched into the East. In the century since Rome's defeat of the Seleucid Empire in the 180s BC, the East was dominated by the rise of new empires: Parthia, Armenia and Pontus, each vying to recreate the glories of the Persian Empire. By the 80s BC, the Pontic Empire of Mithridates had grown so bold that it invaded and annexed the whole of Rome's eastern empire and occupied Greece itself. As Rome emerged from the devastating effects of the First Civil War, a new breed of general emerged, eager to re-assert Roman military dominance and carve out a fresh empire in the east, treading in the footsteps of Alexander. This work analyses the military campaigns and battles between a revitalized Rome and the various powers of the eastern Mediterranean hinterland, which ultimately heralded a new phase in Roman imperial expansion and reshaped the ancient East.
