Idiotic & Useless

Late WWI, Plan 1919, Land Ironclads & the Martian Invasion!

This game allows players to fight WWI battles, taking place outside of static trench lines, as if the employment of armor has allowed one side to break through into "the green fields beyond," as if the Germans had manufactured large quantities of tanks of their own, as if the experimental tanks of the era were employed in quantity, or as if H.G. Wells' fictitiously large "Land Ironclads" had been built. Rules are also included for the appearance of H.G. Wells' Martian Tripods in WWI battles or for the depiction of a Martian invasion.

This game is designed to be played on a hex mat. The scale is such that a battalion frontage of six hexes corresponds to roughly 500 m. Thus one hex is equal to around 80m or 90 yards. Figures should be mounted on square or rectangular bases so as to fit within the hexes being used. For example, 6mm figures on 1-1.25" or 30mm square bases work well with 1.5 inch hexes. Bases of other shapes or cardstock counters may be used, so long as the front of the base is clearly apparent.
