U.S. F4F Wildcat Ace Pilot: Joseph J. Foss

Foss's Flying Circus scored a total of 72 victories against Japanese aircraft during the Battle of Guadalcanal. Leading this flight, Foss accounted for 26 of these personally, most of them Zero fighters.

U.S. F4F Wildcat Ace Pilot: Marion E. Carl

Carl flew as part of the Cactus Air Force on Guadalcanal where he became the U.S. Marine Corps' first Ace, gaining 16 aerial victories in the constant fighting.

U.S. F4U Corsair Ace Pilot: Pappy Boyington

Boyington first flew into combat with a volunteer group, the Flying Tigers, before rejoining the U.S. Marine Corps. At 31 years of age, he was the oldest in his squadron and dubbed Pappy by his men. He achieved 26 confirmed victories.
