Wargames Illustrated is a part of the Battlefront family of companies, and the world's premier tabletop gaming magazine. Its continued expansion and future aspirations have provided us with the opportunity to offer a position as Sub-Editor at our studio in Nottingham, England.
This position presents the successful candidate with a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in the wargaming hobby and share their passion with gamers from around the world.
The successful candidate will possess the following skills:
- An in-depth knowledge of the wargaming hobby
- A broad knowledge of military history
- A high standard of English literacy and articulation
- A keen eye for detail, and proofreading skills
- able to write entertaining and informative articles, reports and reviews
- Excellent communication and people skills
- Computer literacy
- An 'on-screen' willingness and presence in front of camera (for digital projects)
- The ability to work to tight deadlines
Candidates should have experience of working as part of a team, be prepared to work outside of standard office hours when required, and relish the opportunity to work on Wargames Illustrated's multi-media/digital projects.
The following skills would also be advantageous in the role:
- Miniatures photography
- A working knowledge of Adobe software (Photoshop, InDesign, etc.)
- A working knowledge of Apple Mac computers
- A familiarity with the use of social media for business
Experience of working in publishing would also be an advantage.
Although based in Beeston, Nottingham, some traveling/driving will be required.
