This is a very controversial topic.

I was always told that Napoleonic 28mm figures needed 1/56 scale weapons, cannon, vehicles, buildings. The snag is how much 28mm figs have grown over the years. I have no problem with that, so long as they retain human proportions.

No doubt at all that, if you measure Gringos 40 Marines eye to soles of feet, they are big lads for "28mm". Trouble is they totally dwarf the obvious competition, which is (arguably) a bit slender even for 28mm. All that means is you cannot mix, but oddly Empress Mins state their tanks are 1/50 scale. Bless them, at least they do state the scale (few do)!

Hand on heart, I am totally neutral here, but decided early on which suited me, of the two. I still say Paul Hicks did some of the best figures in my collection (Saxon Heavy Cavalry. His Garde du Corps I had to have. His Zastrow Cuirassiers were not of the slightest interest to me as a unit….until I saw them.)

Gringo40s well be releasing the long-awaited 1:48th scale 28mm M48A3 tank in the not too distant future.

Patton tank

The highly detailed model will come with many extras… details to follow. Needless to say, the tank will be of the highest quality, a mixture of resin and pewter! Worth the wait.

Regards!
