The Sengoku-jidai period in Japanese history comes alive in this line of wargame figures from A.I.M.. This is the first completely new line from A.I.M. in many years and those of us here at GFI are proud to bring it to you. The goal of this line is to capture an important period in military history in a scale that makes it easy to complete large and realistic armies without having to break the bank or spend the rest of your lifetime to get painted!
In Phase One's release, you will find everything you will need to build an army. You can even have units of those fanatical Sohei (Warrior Monks) running around your tabletop. This line comes with Sashimonos. They are cast on the backs of all the foot, when appropriate and are simply glued into a slot on the backs of the cavalry. The mounted figures have the option of being packaged with one of four different types of sahimonos used during this period for added flavor. For additional detail to the period, army and unit banners are also available in the appropriate command packs. By late spring of 2004, we will offer waterslide decals for those banners and sasimonos for those who are looking for that extra degree of detail!
In Phase Two, slated for release in the late summer of 2004, you will find the items that will give your army its unique look depending on which clan or clans you choose to do. What do we mean by that? Well, it means that the major clans of this period will have personality packs that relate directly to that clan and its leaders, icons, personal bodyguard (Yo-Jimbo-Bo), and messengers. You will be able to have Takada Shingen in his full regalia or Useugi Keshin wearing his kesa (monk's headwear). For the Ida clan alone, there are already plans for 5 separate packs of clan personalities!
This line will also be supported, in the year to come, by rules for massed army combat, buildings and many other items that for now you can dream about. This project was started and developed as a labor of love by the sculptor (Chris Bennett) and we think that you will see that, as this line grows to match his vision.
