H21541 INTELLIGENCE HANDBOOK OF THE U.S.S.R. It includes over 90 A3 fold-outs and 5 A1 maps. It serves as a good guide to Stalin's air power before it was virtually wiped out by the Luftwaffe following the German invasion in 1941. £45.00 GBP

H21544 HANDBOOK ON THE AIR SERVICES OF JAPAN (1939) / Air Intelligence, Mint paperback reprint of a 1940 publication. 240pp.: This is a complete description of the Japanese Air Force and air industry in 1939. It includes a valuable section on tactics as well as details of the aircraft industry and sources of raw materials – later a significant factor in the war. A very good introduction to the study of the subject. With 4 colour A1 maps and many appendices. £35.00 GBP

H21545 ITALIAN AIR FORCE (MARCH 1941) / Air Intelligence, Mint paperback reprint of a 1941 publication. 114pp.: A good intelligence assessment of the Italian Air Force at 15 March 1941. The report covers organisation, personnel, training, efficiency and morale and all the other necessary matters. With 6 maps showing dispositions and airfields in 1941 plus a number of photographs of aircraft in service. A real collector's item as well as a good research source. £20.00 GBP

H21548 IMPERIAL JAPANESE NAVY IN WORLD WAR II / Military History Staff, GHQ Far East Command; Mint paperback reprint of a 1952 publication. 310pp.: A magnifying glass will be needed to read this title, but such devotion will bear abundant fruit. It covers every vessel used by the Imperial Japanese Navy during the Second World War, and each vessel has its own time line (start and end of service). It will help any student of naval warfare to establish the vessels concerned but significant work will be needed to formulate an overall picture. Nevertheless it forms the basis upon which further research can be done, and does make the research a lot simpler. One consolation to the reader is that it is subdivided into fleets, air fleets, general escort command, submarines, naval ship divisions, naval air groups and airfield units, losses of combatant and non-combatant vessels, and a series of maps shows location of ship losses. Also included a chronology of Japanese submarine losses, and some useful appendices. The hard work involved in reading the paper will be rewarded! £35.00 GBP

H21549 ATTACK: A STUDY OF BLITZKRIEG TACTICS / Miksche, Maj. F.O.; Mint paperback reprint of a 1942 publication. 286pp.: It is a detailed analysis of the German Blitzkrieg method and is well illustrated to clarify all the points the author makes. £25.00 GBP

H21550 GUERILLA AND COUNTER-GUERILLA WARFARE IN GREECE 1941-1945 / Gardner, Hugh H.; Mint paperback reprint of a 1962 publication. 262pp.: A good detailed history of the Greek resistance movement and the efforts of (mainly) the Germans to counter their operations. Gives some information on ELAS as well as of the German anti-guerilla operations (Steinadler, Kreuzotter etc). £30.00 GBP

H21551 Perry Miniatures Russian Line Infantry 1809-1814 / – 28mm miniatures. 40x plastic figures representing a Russian line battalion. £16.00 GBP

H21552 Perry Miniatures Medieval Cottage 1300-1700 / – 1x 1/56th scale cruck frame cottage. Also includes wattlework fencing and a woodshed. For 28mm wargaming. £16.00 GBP

H21553 FIGHTING TANKS: THE ROYAL TANK CORPS IN ACTION 1916-1919 / Wilson, G. Murray; Mint paperback reprint of a 1929 publication. 268pp.: This is a compendium of extracted writings from the work of (inter alia) Maj Gen Sir Hugh Elles, Maj Gen Sir John Ponsonby, Col J F C Fuller and Col Le Q Martel and gives a number of interesting accounts relating to the use of tanks in World War I. What is most important about it is the pedigree of many of the contributors. It is a valuable addition to any library of tank warfare literature. £30.00 GBP

H21554 OPERATIONS IN THE DODECANESE ISLANDS (Sep-Nov 1943) / Air Historical Branch, Mint paperback reprint of a 1947 publication. 76pp.: Operations in the Dodecanese were a side show to the main Allied effort but this paper is reprinted to help complete the story of operations in the Middle East. The narrative includes the invasions of the islands of Cos and Leros. Complete with 6 coloured maps. £14.00 GBP

H21555 MOHAWKS & TOMAHAWKS: French Indian war skirmish rules / Buchel, A includes a set of full colour cards £23.50 GBP

H21556 DIE DEUTSCHEN MARINEN 1818-1918 / – GERMAN TEXT 2 very large format volumes, 1,300+ pages, 300+ plates, mostly colour uniforms £99.50 GBP

H21557 CAMPAIGN IN SYRIA (RAF Narrative) / Air Historical Branch, Mint paperback reprint of a 1947 publication. 104pp.: The difference between the campaign in Syria and all other campaigns was that the Allies were fighting the Vichy French, not the Axis powers. This is the story of how the RAF was used with ground forces to force a decision in favor of the Allies. An interesting campaign which deserves further study. £12.00 GBP

H21558 EMPLOYMENT OF AIR FORCES WITH THE ARMY IN THE FIELD (1938) / War Office Mint paperback reprint of a 1938 publication. 84pp.: It can be said that RAF and Army relations in 1938 were not particularly friendly, and this pamphlet shows that the Army was still stuck with the legacy of the first World War – aircraft were useful for reconnaissance, and they could also bomb, transport and fight other fighters, but the matter was one of reduced interest. If one compares this with the German attitude to air-ground co-operation the contrast is startling. The pamphlet needs to be read to put later air-ground co-operation and air support into its earlier context. £12.00 GBP

H21559 CAMPAIGN IN GREECE 1940-1941 / Air Historical Branch, Mint paperback reprint of a 1947 publication. 140pp.: When Mussolini sent his troops into Greece they received a drubbing from the Greeks. Britain sent troops and air forces to support the Greeks, and even though this may have been a mistake (in that it foreshortened successful operations in the Western Desert) it was important to show the Greeks and the world that resistance to dictators was important. This is the RAF narrative of the campaign and covers 1940 and 1941. The paper covers land operations by the Greeks as well as by other elements involved and is a good basis for any in-depth study of this campaign. £20.00 GBP

H21560 LA SCHERMA (THE ART OF FENCING) 1640 / Alfieri, Francesco Ferdinando 150p. VF well ill FIRST ENGLISH TRANSLATION mint pbk Inc annotated notes on the text £25.00 GBP

H21561 AUFTRAGSTAKTIK: We Can't Get There From Here / Harwood, Maj. M.J.; Mint paperback reprint of a 1990 publication. 56pp.: The German tactical system was based on the assumption that well-trained subordinates were given their tasks, and they were competent to work out the best way for them to achieve the aim. The author looks at this method and examines why it proved problematic to institute the same system into the U.S. Army. The paper is well worth reading for the examination of the German method as well as the reasons he gives for the failure to implement the system completely into the American forces. £8.00 GBP

H21562 CHEMICAL MUNITIONS / U.S. Army Mint paperback reprint of a 1948 publication. 332pp.: This manual provides a comprehensive account of chemical munitions (grenades, bombs, sprays etc) used by the British, French, German, Japanese and U.S. forces. It covers both world wars and is fully illustrated. Some of the devices were never used, but it is interesting to note that they were available should the situation and political will demand it. £30.00 GBP

H21563 AGAINST THE ODDS 34: RIGHT FIERCE AND TERRIBLE: THE BATTLE OF SLUYS 1340 / – Hex based boardgame £24.50 GBP

H21566 NEW ZEALAND DIVISION IN CYRENAICA AND THE LESSONS OF THE CAMPAIGN / Staff, NZ Division; Mint paperback reprint of a 1942 publication. 56pp.: This pamphlet examines the New Zealand division in the Cyrenaica campaign. It looks at what the division did, and at the enemy it was fighting. It is of particular importance because it covers a complete campaign in the desert from the point of view of one of its elements, and it points out the lessons that should be learned from the campaign and from the enemy. With a set of coloured maps illustrating the campaign. £15.00 GBP

H21567 DEFIANT MINIATURES – UNITED AMERICAS MARINE CORPS 28mm PLASTIC / – POST-FREE WORLDWIDE 12 individual frames with enough parts to build 24 Marines. Each Marine can be outfitted with either a standard M-46 rifle, an M-46 with an underslung grenade launcher, an M-46 carbine ( £23.99 GBP

H21568 ROLE OF THE OSS IN OPERATION TORCH / Dorrel, Maj. T.W. Mint paperback reprint of a 2008 publication. 100pp.: The landings in North Africa which went under the operational code name of TORCH were a success. U.S. Forces did suffer some setbacks and a steep learning curve once on the ground, but the operation as a whole succeeded. This paper looks at the role of OSS (the American Office of Strategic Services) in obtaining the necessary intelligence to ensure the success of the landings. This is a paper well worth reading because of the background it gives to the political and military situation in Morocco at the time, and how OSS personnel achieved their aim. £12.00 GBP

H21569 DEFIANT MINIATURES – UNITED AMERICAS MARINE CORPS 28mm PLASTIC THREE BOX ARMY BUILDER / – post-free worldwide £69.50 GBP

H21571 WAR AT SEA, Vol. 2 (1941) / Hurford, George Mint paperback reprint of a 1944 publication. 376pp.: Volume 2 of Hurford's monumental work covers 1941 in the Mediterranean and East Africa, and also looks at commerce raiders, enemy air attacks, the Battle of the Atlantic, cooperation with the U.S.A. and Russia, the Far East and Japan (and the loss of capital ships to air attack), and the start of the convoys to Russia. The volume gives a detailed picture of the year from the point of view of the Royal Navy. £45.00 GBP

H21576 WAR AT SEA, Vol. 5 (1944) / Hurford, George Mint paperback reprint of a 1946 publication. The number of naval operations carried out in 1944 was so high and the account of them so lengthy that this volume has been divided into two parts for ease of handling. The volume looks at Mediterranean operations, the work of coastal forces and raids in the Adriatic and the Aegean Seas, Home Command and Northern Waters and the Russian convoys, coastal forces, the U-boat campaign in the outer oceans, Japanese atrocities, the Eastern Fleet and progress in the Pacific, Mediterranean operations and the relief of Anzio, minelaying in the Danube, the naval air attack on the Tirpitz, German flying bomb attacks, the Invasion of Normandy, the liberation of France, the assault on Walcheren and the opening of Antwerp. In all this was a momentous year and this history does it full justice. £85.00 GBP
