Wars of Ozz at Historicon

The wars of Ozz actually all started in my thoughts and imagination as a little boy growing up in Iowa.
Who were those Munchkin soldiers at the beginning of the movie? the Winkie guards and Flying monkies seemed to be military in their appearance --- had there been war in this strange land at one time?
What was out past the fences along the yellow brick road, who had planted all the crops, where did all the other roads lead?
These and almost endless other questions and thought rested in my thoughts and imagination?
