Paul E of Empress Miniatures writes:

We have some new releases today in our ECW Personalities range.

King Charles I, 1600-1649 (referred to by some as "Charles the Martyr" and by others as "the man of blood"). How can we miss out this important character and one of the main causes of the English Civil War!

There's not a lot we can say here that hasn't already been written about Charles Stuart. Let's therefore focus on Charles as a military leader. On the times when he was nominally in field command (one thinks of Cropredy Bridge and Loswithiel) the Royalist Army performed well. His problem (in our opinion) seems to be the vast array of conflicting advisers he surrounded himself with, and then his habit of taking the advice of the last person he spoke to.

There are lots of figures out there of Charles I (indeed, nearly every ECW range has one, and they all look quite similar), so we've done something a little different. This is Charles I as described at the Battle of Edgehill (as his release coincides with 375th anniversary of the battle, it seemed quite appropriate). Here he is described wearing a montero and a black ermine-lined cassock over his ¾ armor, observing the battle via a field glass (what we would now call a telescope).

We have also released some new flagsheets, such as the royal banners and King's Lifeguard of Foote.
