The Vikings were famous raiders of Europe, the near East, and beyond. They came out of nowhere, in numbers and well armed.
However, in the West… in Greenland and Vinland, they arrived in much smaller numbers and settled as farmers with little chance of resupply or fresh forces from home. In this situation, the raiders could often become the raided.
This wonderful set of figures represents the lightly armed Viking farmers and settlers of Vinland and the native peoples they encountered in their southernmost reaches.
The figures were sculpted by the late, great Rob Baker. This was a range of his inspiration, and it shows in the sculpts and vignettes.
