On November 27, the German 7th Panzer Division had seized a bridgehead across the Moscow-Volga Canal – the last major obstacle before Moscow and stood less than 22 miles from the Kremlin. Zhukov plays his final card against a seemingly invincible enemy allied with the harsh winter. The Red Army begins to mount a fiercer resistance, to prevent the Soviet capital from falling into the hands of the "Huns."
