Victorian Science Fiction Modelling Invitation

Art for one of the Steamtank submissions

On behalf of the Brabantini Yahoo! group, I would like to cordially invite everyone to participate in our current Miniatures In Paper showcase – Victorian Science Fiction: Steamtanks & Landships. The showcase runs through the months of May & June 2004, and entries may be submitted at the Brabantini site or at paperworlds.com.

Several versions of a steamtank are already available at Paperworlds, and more designs are coming soon. Any and all are welcome to join in and draw up and post some paper miniatures to share with the world.

Prototype of a model-in-progress

Miniatures in Paper is a bi-monthly event started by Jim Hartmann and modeled after Dominic Heutelbeck's Visions in Color, and Harry Calquhoun's Visions in Putty showcase. The concept is to encourage artists, professional and amateur alike, to design and post paper miniatures for use in wargaming, based on a common theme. These designs would then be uploaded to the Brabantini Yahoo! Group and Paperworlds site for all to share and enjoy. Every two months, a new theme or army is voted on and selected. Once announced, everyone has two months to complete their designs and post to the Group file. When the next Miniatures in Paper begins, the current folder with everyone's designs will be transferred to the Paperworlds web site for archiving. If you do not want your file to be transferred, please delete it from the group file before the folder is transferred - a notice will be posted when the folder will be transferred.

When designing your miniatures, you are welcome to design one miniature or an army. The design can be of any troop type, ship, building, or terrain that fits within the theme. Your design can be of any scale you wish - popular scales are 6mm, 10mm, 15mm, 20mm, 25mm, and 28-30mm. Due to the international nature of the group, try to size your artwork to print within 8 inches by 11 inches - this is so it will print to both Letter and A4 size paper.
