Mithril ran, from November to February, a painting competition to celebrate the release of The White Council box set.
The White Council was formed in the Third-age to counter the re-emergence of the Dark Lord in Middle-earth. Its members comprised the Istari and the Wise amongst the Elven folk, and Saruman was appointed as its head.
The rules were simple, and we received five excellent entries.
- No digital text or time stamps.
- No digital backdrops or excessive photo manipulation.
- No significant alteration of the original scene. So a backdrop is acceptable, but the figures, accessories and position should not be changed unduly. This was to avoid confusion if we used the resulting images to advertise The White Council.
The Judges were Chris Tubb, Mithril's sculptor, and Lars Edman, the owner of Mithril and Prince August.
After days of careful consideration, Christoph Linscheidt's entry was chosen as winner. Chris Tubb submitted a statement about his reaction to the entries.
The winner gets an upcoming Entombed Balrog miniature and the Variag Foot Archer; and the other contestants get the Variag Foot Archer.
