I'm pleased to announce some changes at Chieftain Models which will hopefully bring a new focus to Moderns.
After JTFM acquired the rights to the WWII range, Chieftain was left with 1940 and earlier, and the Moderns. Since the two didn't really compliment each other, Crouchie decided to kick off BEF Miniatures - befminiatures.co.uk - for the Battle of France and pre-war Pulp British Civil War (BCW) era.
This left the Moderns part of Chieftain feeling a little unloved, and being #1 Fanboy, I just couldn't let this happen. So, I've agreed with Crouchie to take the rest of Chieftain off his hands (well, more of I'm having a crack at running it for a bit).
Crouchie will remain as the master-maker, and I've every intention to remain true to the original Chieftain ethos of quality of detail and thumping great lumps of pewter above anything else.
The immediate changes will be a total revamp of the website, a broadening of the current range, and then exploration into new theatres of modern conflicts both actual and probable; Think Falklands, Persian Gulf, 1983 Cold War going hot in Northern Europe and Scandinavia, that sort of thing.
I'm seriously thinking about getting a range out which specifically links into SOCWAD, By the Knife, generic 'Technicals'.
Specific to our allies over the pond, if there's enough interest, a raft of U.S. Moderns including current Bradley and M1, and I'm thinking about ways of reducing the postage costs to the U.S.
If you're interested, I respectfully suggest joining our Yahoo! Group where you can make suggestions.
The current range of Chieftain, T-72, T-62, Sho't Kal, Mutt, and the five CVRt variants are all still available, but please excuse the website at the moment, I'm learning web design as I go with this!
