This is a free PDF file introducing my Hex Rules: Big Bad Wolf book.
The proposition is that what if one or more of the major powers during World War Two designed and produced and introduced to combat walking tanks? This book details the design, specifications and combat use of a design called the BBW (Big Bad Wolf). Maybe it was the Germans who had the idea? Maybe the U.S. Marines saw it as a solution to landing support onto Japanese-held Pacific islands? Perhaps the Soviets (who called their machine the Snow Wolf) found that a walker could negotiate the steppes and swamps of Russia better than tracked vehicles?
I like playing WWII games in 1:100 scale but sometimes need a little bit of extra variety, and so I began to incorporate a few BBWs into my games.
This little introduction gives details of the development of various nation's BBWs, their specifications and combat use (the Germans designed their BBWs as close support for infantry, but Hitler decided that they would be great in panzer attacks: think the Ardennes in December 1944). It's all a bit of fun.
The only real difference between this free version and the full book is the inclusion of a full set of my Hex Rules.
