Having had the honor of getting a Quar to paint (mine is the khaki Quar), the miniature is a wonderful sculpt and cast very smart, there is no sprue attached anywhere to deform the sculpt. The detail is crisp and the mini was fun to paint. I tend to like historicals so the chance to do a sc fi WWI style mini was wonderful.

Hey!

The first of our Quar figures is here! This is just the beginning of our new line. There will be many more come April.

First Quar figure

A little bit of Quar history:

For nearly seven hundred years, the Quar have been a race at war. Nations, states, and empires have risen, fallen, come and gone through these ages of strife, a complex and brutal history that the Quar named simply the "Long War." At various times, Quar leaders have emerged and tried to unite the Quar peoples — inevitably, such leaders are deemed deranged, and become the common enemy of a multitude of Quar nation-states. Although seemingly meek in their physical appearance, something in the makeup of the Quar render them unable to cooperate at a national level.

In recent years, a Quar leader has emerged who has successfully united most of the nation-states under his bloody banner: Alykinder the Mighty, a Quar of shrewd intellect and cunning. Alykinder brought the last of the Quar nations to heel, uniting Quar from the Syk Mountains to the Goseth Ocean. He maintains his rule with an iron fist, using ruthless security forces and redeploying malcontents to the numerous frontlines. Now, Alykinder and his Iron Regime stand on the precipice of total victory in the Long War: The two remaining independent Quar states — Shralm and Coftire — have begun to falter in the Iron Regime's chokehold.

The Quar mindset doesn't accept defeat and humility easily, however. Even as Alykinder strives to deliver the coup de grace to Shralm and Coftire, rebels within his conquered territories have begun to rise up in greater numbers and ferocity. Tales of a great rebel leader have gained hold, fueling both the growing Resistance as well as the defiant foot-dragging of recently conquered nations.

And so, the Long War rages on . . .

The Figures

Rhyfler Maerch

Our first model is of Rhyfler Maerch, 2nd Battalion, 42nd Catrawd ("Alykinder's Daggers"). Maerch had been a Rhyfler in the light infantry for close to 18 months at the time of this sketch. He was later killed along with most of the 42nd at the Battle of Shayl's Crossing during the Halfshin Offensive. Ryf.

Maerch is pictured here in standard light infantry fatigues, and equipped with a Bogen 12-mm semi-automatic rifle and type 2 "twist and throw" grenade, all standard issue for the period. Note that Ryf. Maerch is wearing a more common combat boot instead of the trench boot recorded as standard, a result of shortages on the Eastern Front.

The Quar are 28/32mm scale and stand 22mm at the shoulder. The head, arms and backpack are separate.

A full ten-Quar squad, a vehicle crewman, a heavy MG team, and a character model are all currently being sculpted. I expect to start selling those sometime in April!
