Fear not, some days still remain for you to game, research, and just plain read for fun. And OMM is here to help with the latest offerings.

Go Strong into the Desert focuses in close detail on the combat waged across the Sudan, and is characterized by absorbing blow-by-blow narratives of what actually happened during such dramatic actions. AND DISCOUNTED WWII BOOKS...

ERICH VON MANSTEIN: Hitler's Master Strategist: Though an undoubtedly brilliant military leader - whose achievements, considering the forces at his disposal, cast those of Patton, Rommel, MacArthur, and Montgomery in the pale - surprisingly little is known about Manstein himself, save for his own memoir and the accolades of his contemporaries. In this new book from Casemate, we finally have a full portrait of the man, including his campaigns, and an analysis of what precisely kept a genius such as Manstein harnessed to such a dark cause. $33.00 USD (here in two to three weeks)

ROER RIVER BATTLES: Germany's Stand at the Westwall, 1944-45: Drawing on primary Wehrmacht and U.S. sources, including battle analysis and daily situation and after-action reports, The Roer River Battles provides insight into the desperate German efforts to keep a conquering enemy at the borders of their homeland. Tactical maps down to battalion level help clarify the very fluid nature of the combat. Combined, they serve to explain not just how, but why decisions were made and events unfolded, and how reality often differed from doctrine in one of the longest U.S. campaigns of World War II. $33.00 USD (here in two to three weeks)
