I wouldn't consider 1 unit = 1 platoon to be "grand tactical". For grand tactical games, I'd want one counter = 1 company or one battalion and turns to be somewhere around 1+ hours.

Wargame Vault announces the availability of:

Foxhole: Grand Tactical Battles in World War II

Foxhole

Publisher: One Small Step

Included with Foxhole are:

  • six scenarios
  • over 100 playing pieces
  • 24 unit cards
  • one rules booklet
  • Tactical Battles Map B

The Age of the Historical Microgame is back with a bang with this grand tactical game of maneuver and firepower!

In Foxhole, a counter represents about 60 men or four to six vehicles, depending upon nationality and time period. Time is abstracted such that a turn represents several minutes, but not a specific amount of time. Each hex on the map represents around 100 yards of terrain.

Foxhole was designed with a few primary goals: To be simple to learn, to be fast-playing, and to reward good tactics. The system does not pretend to be the end-all in WWII tactical simulations, but rather is intended to provide an entertaining yet enlightening diversion from the more heavy fare of historical boardwargaming, yet still retain a sense of realism and fluidity.

Price: $4.95 USD
