These figures are dressed in the special grey version of the Panzer Sonderbekleidung (often referred to as a panzer wrap or panzerjacke.) This was worn initially by Assault gun crews, one of the reasons being as these crews often went on recon on foot, the black tankers version was a little too obvious, the grey being a better color for concealment. By 1942, the uniform was authorized to be worn by any motorized troops, Panzer Grenadiers, armored artillery, engineers, anti tank, and flak gunners amongst many others.
Thus, here, we have a range of Panzer Grenadiers in this uniform, the most notable wearers being the Panzer Lehr, but it was in widespread use in many infantry units.
