Thanks Stealth, we're addressing all of the feedback we received. I've spoken about this in 2 recent podcasts, actually linked here. The relaunch will take into account all of the feedback we received on our first attempt to get this game, which has quite a different approach, off the ground.
In summary,
-The overall goal is reduced substantially
-We've scaled back production estimates to support that lower goal
-We've worked out 3 products from our manufacturing partners that are unreleased and will be available to all backers at a certain level, exclusive to the Kickstarter for a time period (i.e. retail delayed).
-We've received 1 external review (linked here) and are awaiting another before relaunch.
-We've solicited and received a ton of feedback from fans.
-The factions we present will all be fully painted and shown in quantity for the boxed sets giving a better sense of what's included (and it's a lot)!
-Shipping will be handled post-kickstarter which eliminates some risk as discussed on my blog (http://collinsepicwargames.wordpress.com).
-Shipping within certain zones will be done by consolidators which saves on costs and eliminates customs fees.
-ALL reward levels cost less to backers. If you're just interested in the PDF, you can get it for $10. USD
On your comment that there's no reason for rules to cost so much- I'm not so sure people understand what goes into their creation. Artwork, layout, time to create them (years), development… most of that has been accomplished by Ken and I over a number of years without any sort of payment, except the art to the artists, which we have to pay to commission. None of this is free to do and all of it requires a passion to get it done. In many cases, rules are 'cheap' or 'free' when put out by miniatures manufacturers- in order to help sell models…. But we don't make miniatures… we make great rules and supply miniatures that work well with those rules, should you decide you want them.
If regarding cost, you're referring to the overall original Kickstarter goal, then yes, that is within our power to scale back production to support demand, which we're doing with the relaunch. I've studied the numbers ad infinitum.
I've been working very hard on the draft relaunch project which we will also share before it goes live.
Best,
Byron
