Chipco Releases Chipco Chess and Announces August Promotion
Chipco is proud to announce the release of Chipco Chess in the 'instant gratification' PDF format. Chipco Chess is available from Saber's Edge at a price of $5.95 USD.
"This is a project that has been kicking around our heads for quite a while and only recently came together," said Curtis Wright, General Partner of Chipco Games. "You can play it with regular chess pieces, or you can use your wargame bases to play (in which case you get some special customizations not available to those using the regular pieces). You can also use that Medieval, ACW, Samurai, or Fantasy pre-painted chess set in a way that is different, or you can make your own variant. We hope people have fun with the format."
Chipco Chess takes the basic movement rules of Chess and adds wargame-style combat rules to them. Outcomes are no longer certain because of the use of a d10. Chipco Chess is not 'solve-able,' in the sense of standard Chess since thinking ahead is of limited utility, and players of all abilities have a more equal chance of winning the game. In addition, variants are included that tailor the game to certain periods: Ancients/Fantasy, Medieval/Saracen, Samurai, and American Civil War. Other variants can be developed by players for their own enjoyment. Chipco Chess can be played using a standard Chess set and board, or you can use wargame bases and a Chess board.
