The first Battleground: Historical Warfare release - the Second Punic War - has just gone to print and should be in stores in June. Battleground: Historical Warfare uses the same ruleset as Battleground: Fantasy Warfare, so this set can be played as a stand-alone game or combined with fantasy armies.

Rome vs. Carthage, Hannibal vs. Scipio Africanus

The Second Punic War set brings the forces of Rome and Carthage to life. Cross the Alps with Libyan Foot, Numidian Cavalry, Elephants and the rest of Hannibal's mercenary army or defend Rome with maniples of Hastati, Principes and Triarii.

While previous Battleground factions have come individually in single decks, Rome and Carthage will be sold together in two boxed sets. The Punic War Basic Set is a standalone game with all the cards needed to play Rome vs. Carthage and a comprehensive Battleground rulebook. The Expansion Set contains an additional fifty unit cards for each army, plus a scenario book that includes design notes on our approach to simulating this epic period. Each set has an MSRP of $24.95 USD, and as always, the cards are non-random so no collecting is needed.

About Battleground

Battleground is a tabletop tactical wargame that uses cards, rather than painted models, to represent your forces. This means a much lower price as well as easier transportation and setup, but don't be fooled - this is not a "light" war game or a CCG. Battleground is a serious, award-winning wargame that will challenge you at every step, from army design and deployment to tactical maneuvers and command decisions until battle's end.
